Movies were influential to the culture in the 1970's, portraying anything between unrealistic sharks (Jaws) to the all American family
The most popular films released in the 1970s included had very diverse themes. They all had an individual audience and captured the attention of people in the 1970s. Some of these included; The Godfather (1972), Star Wars (1977), Jaws (1975), and Grease (1978). The Godfather followed the business of organized crime and the empire a family holds with the trade. It became an instant classic gangster movie fad and they came out with a sequel not so far after in 1974. Star Wars is a futuristic, SiFi film about Luke Skywalker trying to save the universe, while rescuing a princess from Darth Vader. Jaws was a horror and thriller film that captured the audience with a terrifying giant shark attacking a small island. Grease was a musical that captured the essence of the 1950's with a good girl and a greaser falling in love and ended up going to the same high school. |
